Craigieburn

A single story aged care facility designed to cater for 96 residents. The building is fitted with five internal courtyards that provide secure outdoor space for residents. Building is designed to care for all types of residents and is fitted with sensitive care unit to accomodate 20 patrons. The facility enjoys a grand foyer with 5m high ceiling that has a natural light coming through highlight windows. The building is fitted with several pergolas that also form private outdoor spaces for the resident rooms and provide shading in the shared courtyards. Due to large footprint of the building it was crucial to design dining and living spaces within comfortable travel distance for the residents. Some corridors are fitted with the resting nooks to allow for a breaks or serve as a secluded meeting points for socialising. The facility offers great amount of parking and back delivery bay. Continues line of roof is broken into parts for aesthetics by introduction of dormers. Special design credits to Bruce Ratcliffe.
